Les images sont espacées régulièrement dans le livre, parfois à proximité des passages qu’elles illustrent, parfois à grande distance, mais toujours avec le n° de la page indiqué à droite de la légende.

Format : 13 x 20,5 cm. Augmentée d’une nouvelle page de titre pour les exemplaires truffés : « Author’s Edition, Adam & Charles Black, Édimbourg, 1870 ». 11 tirages albuminés hors texte. La photographie « In the Trossachs » (en regard de la p. 36) est la même que celle de l’édition A. & C. Black de 1863, où les photos sont attribuées à G.W. Wilson ; on peut donc penser que toutes les photos ici sont de Wilson. Il n’y a pas de liste pour les photos, mais chaque vue est accompagnée d’une légende topographique et quelques vers :

Les photos ne sont donc pas placées en face du texte qu’elles illustrent, et ne suivent pas non plus l’ordre du poème. Les deux exemplaires consultés (cartonnage éditeur vert et l’autre en rouge) se sont révélés identiques, sauf qu’il manquait à l’un le frontispice. Johnson W1126 mentionne « des éditions variantes » ayant 10 à 12 photos. Une épreuve ovale est parfois collée en 1re et une autre en 4e de couverture (portrait peint de Scott et photographie de son monument).

Edition de 1871 : The Lady of the Lake, Adam and Charles Black, Édimbourg, 1871.
Format : 11 x 16,5 cm. 5 tirages albuminés hors texte, dont un en frontispice. Goldschmit compte 6 vues, dont une sur le 1er plat en bois. Gernsheim et Lambrechts compte 6 vues. 2 exemplaires consultés (ex-dono 1876 et ex-dono 1877, collection particulière), ayant chacun des images différentes et à des emplacements différents, les deux ayant des légendes topographiques, mais l’un ayant pour chaque image une citation de quelques vers. Celui portant l’ex-dono de 1876 :
